        Spring Clean Your Closet!

To My Stylish Reader,

At a local garden shop, they had a sign that said, "It's Time To Schedule Your Spring Clean Up!" I thought, how appropriate. Isn't that what we really do with our wardrobes? We clear away the things we won't be wearing again until next fall. Then we sort through last year's spring clothes to see what we have to work with. I do a little each week, well, because that works for me. Most of you won't or can't do that, so here are a few tips to ease the process.

First, make an appointment with yourself.  Plan on a couple of hours or more, especially if you try a lot of things on. I would also encourage you to put on some lively music and turn the cell phone off. After all, whose image is more important than yours? Also, wear the appropriate undergarments. You may need to replace some of these, too.

It's also a good idea to make a list of the upcoming occasions, say through June. Do you have anything that will work? Does that outfit need new accessories and shoes? What about a coat or a jacket? Include work and casual days on the list, and for real ease - set up a whole week's worth of outfits!

Next, TRY EVERYTHING ON! Even if your shape hasn't changed, you'd be surprised how differently clothes can fit from one year to another. As you're doing this, make a shopping list of what is missing and what needs to be replaced.

Don't forget to check/try on your sandals, spring jewelry and handbags. Nothing dates a look faster than out-of-date accessories.

If you already work with me you know that I take pictures of all the outfits we make together. You can do that, too! It's one of the easiest ways to remember what you put together.

After the winter clothes are put away, your closet should feel all  "Cleaned Up"!
